Reduce stomach and waist fat                     Home   Ask a question about weight loss

Most people wish to lose weight from the stomach and waist. Fat stored around the stomach results in a greater health risk than fat stored in other parts of  the body like the thighs. Abdominal fat could cause high blood pressure, high blood sugar and heart disease. Men are more likely to store fat around the stomach, while women store fat in their hips. Fat could be also stored around the stomach due to stress.

The healthiest way to prevent a fat stomach is by ensuring that your weight is normal for your height. Ensure that the energy provided by the food you eat matches the energy you burn performing your daily activities. Losing fat around the stomach takes time.

If  you already have a fat stomach, the only way you can reduce your fat is by doing aerobic exercises. During activities like swimming, rowing and walking, enough oxygen is supplied to the body to burn fat.  Fat is burned from all over the body, including the stomach. If aerobic exercises are done regularly over a period of  time, you will gradually lose weight.

Design your own weight loss plan

It is wrongly believed that can you can lose weight only in certain parts of the body. Some areas "bulge" or appear more fat due to the lack of  muscles. Common abdominal exercises like sit-ups, crunches and leg raises are of a very short duration (usually less than a minute) and do not burn many calories. Doing these exercises helps in the toning and firming of stomach muscles. If the stomach muscles are stronger, the waist may appear slightly smaller.
